Heh.  Yeah.  Windows and MSVC++ isn't my strong suit, though I could
start a good list of MSVC++ gripes...  :)

I think I understand what this patch does and it sounds like it will be
a good idea.  I'm looking forward to you hashing out the rest of the
details.
