I do not know of any at present.

I can add it to the CVS source for now. I suppose it could always be
made available via GNULIB later if there is a need in the next year or
so before Solaris 7 becomes unsupported.

You raise a reasonable point. I will plan on using the sunos57-select
name for the CVS version.

Did the rest of the submission match the requisite coding and naming
standards?

The problem has been reported. I am waiting to hear what (if anything)
Sun is prepared to do about it.
