Hi Allen,

The largest file in the openldap 2.2.17 distribution is
libraries/liblunicode/UnicodeData.txt file is only 628K.

If you are not able to do the commands:

   /bin/rm -fr /tmp/foo-repos
   tar tjf openldap-stable-20040923.tgz
   cd openldap-2.2.17
   cvs -d /tmp/foo-repos init
   cvs -tt -d /tmp/foo-repos import \
      -mopenldap-2.2.17 openldap openldap \
      openldap-2-2-17
   echo $?

without a zero error return, then there is
something wrong with your cvs installation.

The first thing to try is to build a cvs
executable out of the same sources, but configure
it using:

  ./configure --without-gssapi

then try running the above test. If that does not
work on your system, then we know that the problem
is somehow not specific to the GSSAPI related code.
If it does work, then we can concentrate on looking
at the GSSAPI specific stuff.
