cvs client: refetching unpatchable files

Hello,

Don't if you can help but I am having a problem with CVS. This message keeps
appears on the log;

P CRMQU.src
cvs client: refetching unpatchable files
U CRMQU.src

It seems CVS is having a problem patching this file (amongst others),
however it then updates the file instead, which is obviously good in that we
get the end result.

The version of the CVS command we have is 1.11

I need to understand why a patch would fail, or at least some of the
possible reasons, and ideally would like to fix this so the patch works if
at all possible.

Is any one able to help?
