fileutils 4.1.7 build script error

Your build script for 4.1.7 isn't working here. I configured it
(CFLAGS="..." ./configure --prefix=/usr), and ran

 (make) 2>&1|tee make.log     # bash2

Went to do something, came back 10 minutes later, it was
hung in "cat [empty]" (according to ps). It hadn't done anything
else, so that was apparently the first command that "(make)" encountered.

Linux-2.2.20
glibc-2.1.3
sed-2.0.5
perl-5.005
gawk-3.0.95

(I assume that gcc and binutils versions aren't relevant,
since it didn't get that far, but just for reference: gcc-2.91.66,
binutils-2.9.1.0.25.)

There may be version issues, of course, but the above
sed, perl, and gawk binaries worked fine re-compiling glibc-2.1.3
a couple of days ago (security patch).

Let me know if you want to see any of the configure output.
