% Hi!

Hi!

%
% Top output now , but it seems pretty much with when the cp was running.

Seems quiet...

%
% Free output:
%
% address@hidden /etc]# free
% total used free shared buffers cached
% Mem: 2059460 2026156 33304 0 9404 1839800
% -/+ buffers/cache: 176952 1882508
% Swap: 2048136 80284 1967852

So all of your RAM is used up, but you're barely touching swap. That's
actually pretty good, but either you have to swap stuff out or not get
more free RAM when you need it.

If you've reserved all of that RAM for shared memory, then it's no wonder
your copy will fail; you're working with some 30MB as a window. If
you're going to do big data moves, you'll want a nice chunk of memory
available.

%
% The only way to increase swap space now is creating swap files, isnĀ“t ?

Well, that's the easiest; reformatting your drive to stretch the swap
partition can be inconvenient :-)

% Do you know if this will be a good ideia ?

At this point I'd say no; you've hardly touched your swap.

%
% thanks again

You should probably check google's results for your error message and see
1) to what it pertains for other folks, particularly to see if you have
anything in common with them, and 2) if someone has an answer. If you
don't get anywhere with that approach, then get a good SysAdmin and kernel
tuner in there to poke at the box and make it right.

Good luck!
