Lets say you start up '$ emacs -nw file' text mode without the trusty
scroll bar at the side to help you get an idea of how much of the file
you are looking at. You look down and in the mode line all there is
is that unfortunate "Top" (or "Bottom"). Why not in this case in
addition still give the percentage of the file that is currently in
view. Sure I know this is a long story, but it still would be nice,
even if the scroll bar were present. GNU Emacs 20.7.1
I mean the -nw situation will be around for a long time, e.g. I want
to use more convenient Chinese input than Mule, etc. [I hear it only
interprets single chars.] And "our forces in the Persian Gulf" wouldn't
have time to startup X windows, so a lot of people still will be using -nw.
