There I was in a *shell* buffer and I typed "ESC ." as I am habituated
to to get the last item of the last command in bash, ksh, etc., but
instead I get the TAGS business. I'm about 60/40 in favor of, for the
*shell* buffer, the TAGS binding getting out of the way from this
traditional shell binding,
