Sure, I don't see that this as a big problem. Anyway, I tried it
with two different motif version. The first one is Open Motif
2.1.30 and the second one is Metro Link Motif 1.2 (a commercial
[did you mean proprietary?] product). I bring this issue only as an
additional argument that the cause of the crash may be inside
emacs.
It is not useful to speculate about this, because such speculation
won't find the bug. The only way that can be done is by methodical
debugging--which is hard to do if you don't have source code.
Would you like to try it with LessTif? If it fails with LessTif, it
may be easier to find someone to debug it. Also, since LessTif is
free software, if you come across a way to improve it you will be
contributing to our community. That would not be the case for Motif.
