browse-url-of-buffer fails on a directory |

I did browse-url-of-buffer when in a dired window and nothing happened.
Whatsthematter? Can't I browse the directory in a browser or am I
only supposed to look at files? My .emacs is on emacs.txt on my
website incase it is all my fault.
I did it again with emacs -q and it starts netscape but screws up...
If done within a file instead of a directory it is ok.
