In emacs 21.1,
The behavior of scroll-left and scroll-right depends on whether they
are called interactively. Specifically, they only set min_hscroll on
interactive calls. Is this considered a feature? Why?
Assuming it is deliberate, it needs to be documented in the function
doc strings and in the elisp manual. "If `automatic-hscrolling' is
non-nil" should be "If called interactively and `automatic-hscrolling'
is non-nil".
