about emacs installation

Hi

I am trying to install emacs on  Sun Ultra 1 Solaris 8.

when I run the ./configure I get the error

loading cache ./config.cache
checking host system type... sparc-sun-solaris2.8
checking for gcc... no
checking for cc... no
configure: error: no acceptable cc found in $PATH


and when i do ./configure --with-gcc=no

it still says that make not found.
Please advice.
