Well, I made the change for two reasons:
1) the collisions,
2) the function names were not well chosen in the first place.
If you were to rename it to gnulib_getstr it would still suffer from 2).

I'm not for such a prefix for two reasons:
- gnulib is not a homogenous single library; it's more a set of
modules that try to adhere to some common style.
- Avoiding clashes so far in advance is probably not worth the effort.
There are more important things.
