Yes, but I thought that onceonly.m4 was imported unmodified from a
package that wanted to run on older Autoconf versions.  That is why
I used the older style in that change.

You're welcome.  So you have two versions of onceonly.m4, then, one
for older Autoconf versions and one for newer?

In that case, there are some other minor changes that should be made
to the newer onceonly.m4.  The code should use m4_defn, not defn, and
similarly for the other builtin m4 macros.  And of course we can
remove the m4_quote (re)definition.
