Interesting. Thanks for trying that. I must need a better test, as  
clearly in the log files, ffcall seems to be the problem:

trampoline: cannot make memory executable
/bin/sh: line 5:  8427 Aborted                 ././shared_obj/ 
make_services --test GSspell.service/Resources/Info-gnustep.plist
gmake[2]: *** [GSspell.service/Resources/Info-gnustep.plist] Error 1

I still think using libffi is the only solution.
