Hello,It seems that my original reply didn't make it to the board (inbox was too full!).
Your right, libxt-dev was the missing link! Thanks, Dan. On 4 Mar 2008, at 10:40, Richard Frith-Macdonald wrote:

Roughly following the list quoted here, (http://gnustep.blogspot.com/2005/12/gnustep-on-ubuntuppc.html ). But I would apt-get the required packages according to the messages printed from gnustep-startup. For example, Ubutnu Gusty doesn't come with the X11 headers and/or libraries. So I installed every x11 packages I could find (a little overkill I know :o) )Now, *** checking system for installation issues ***phase passes the check for the X headers and libraries successfully, but when it comes to the*** build GNUstep Back *** phase, it halts with, configure: error: No X11 libraries/headers for building x11 server Any ideas on how to clear this up?I had the same error trying to install on a new Debian system at FOSDEM.On Debian the packages are quire fine-grained, so you need to install a lot of them to get functionality that tends to be grouped together in a single package on many other systems. In particular, it's easy to find you've missed out one of the X developer packages. At FOSDEM it turned out to be that the libxt-dev package needed to be installed ... so you could try checking that.
