I don't have a FreeBSD, so I don't know how supposedly should work it. But try
with the official released packages. I think is better if you write to people
who made the packages for FreeBSD. Also, I don't know if those packages are
updated. Or try with the official packages of gnustep. Installing these one by
one. Regards.
