Hello!

After a fair amount of time debugging and discussing with Samuel and
others, here’s a Nix[*]-based, cross-built GNU/Hurd QEMU image:

  http://hydra.nixos.org/jobset/gnu/hurd-master

This image is continuously built off the Hurd and Mach VCS, and based on
a libc & libpthread snapshot (the ultimate goal will be to get libc from
VCS too.) It is cross-built from GNU/Linux.

Currently it’s pretty rough on the edges, but it boots, and you even get
a Bash prompt[+] where you can run Coreutils commands! A few other
packages hide under /nix/store.

Of course, it will allow for all sorts of cwazy things, such as running
test suites, building other programs within it, and whatnot. We’re not
there yet, but ideas, comments, and general feedback are welcome!

Thanks,
Ludo’.

[+] A Guile prompt should come next, obviously.
