Yes, indeed.  Oh, and the file is not put into the sys subdirectory...

Yes (modulo the other issues I raised in the other thread).  (Though,
when regenerating the docs, the outdated [srcdir]/doc/version.texi is
unsed instead of the [builddir] one.)
