It should be a standard 640x400 resolution, nothing fancy, but well.

AIUI, you have an existing Hurd system running on it?  Does its Hurd
console have the same issue?  Would you be able to run a program
remotely to see whether that fixes the console output? (by making it use
720x400 instead of 640x400).
