I don't know, but if I just boot, login and shut down it works, or, at 
least, it just worked.

checking syslog, I see this repeated several times:

I notice also something  very odd. If I power down and it hangs and then 
I press the power button of the PC, the BIOS will loose time and its 
settings!
And no the RTC battery is fine, I just changed it yesterday to be sure. 
Also, I can set the date, unplug the computer for hours and it will 
remember its settings.
Is the HURD capable of interacting with the BIOS, e.g. writing the clock 
back or other settings?

I add that this machine run HURD fine for years, but this is a fresh 
install on a new HDD. I am reporting here "new" issues I did not 
experience before.
