Hi,

thinks are getting more intricated.

Ok, I installed openbsd-inetd and telnetd on a test vm. service {start, stop} openbsd-inetd work as expected.
here too...

[sudo] password for multix:
[ ok ] Stopping internet superserver: inetd.
multix@ithil:/var/log$ sudo /etc/init.d/openbsd-inetd start

I should try perhaps just booting an shuttingo down, to see how a clean
system works.
Are you doing anything that might trigger this that I'm missing?
I don't know, but if I just boot, login and shut down it works, or, at least, it just worked.
what should I do with "set -x" ? Please explain further...
Oh, I just suggested that you add 'set -x' somewhere near the top of
/etc/init.d/openbsd-inetd so that you see what is executed and when
exactly this script hangs.

checking syslog, I see this repeated several times:
Apr 2 21:03:23 ithil rsyslogd: [origin software="rsyslogd" swVersion="7.6.3" x-pid="725" x-info="http://www.rsyslog.com";] start Apr 2 21:03:23 ithil rsyslogd-2066: could not load module '/usr/lib/rsyslog/imklog.so', dlopen: /usr/lib/rsyslog/imklog.so: undefined symbol: klogAfterRun [try http://www.rsyslog.com/e/2066 ]

I notice also something very odd. If I power down and it hangs and then I press the power button of the PC, the BIOS will loose time and its settings! And no the RTC battery is fine, I just changed it yesterday to be sure. Also, I can set the date, unplug the computer for hours and it will remember its settings. Is the HURD capable of interacting with the BIOS, e.g. writing the clock back or other settings?

I add that this machine run HURD fine for years, but this is a fresh install on a new HDD. I am reporting here "new" issues I did not experience before.

Riccardo
