GNOME Shell is not supported by Debian GNU/Hurd. The only available DE are Xfce, LXDE and MATE
Added to this, although Debian install lightdm by default, this DM doesn't works. The only DM which currently works is XDM.
Alternatively you can start the DE using startx command from the tty.

In this case, you have to execute fsck without unmount. If lucky, during booting, the system enter in recovery mode unmounting the filesystem to execute fsck.

I success install Debian Hurd on my Thinkpad T60, but i having some issues,
1. when is booting the system can not reach boot gnome enviroment, it stock on terminal, so not sure what to do to pass to gnome shell.
2. The other issues is that when booting first or second time it showing on the screen a Filesystem error, also that the Filesystem can not be unmonted.
