Well, I guess that's my cue to wave hi to this list :)

Welcome back! or citing, say "I'm back"!
Good to know you are in one-piece and that you weren't sent to "hot zones"!

Army is, one way or the other, always a place of torment, mess, and abuse.
For certain behaviours we have a special term in Italian, "nonnismo", used in conjunction with military and elders, which has no direct translation in other languages I know. In english it could be tyrannise, haze, bull.

I am indeed out of the army, alive and in one piece. I've been out for
two weeks already, and in this time I've managed to build myself a
mostly working cross-toolchain targeting the Hurd, and set up a new
Debian GNU/Hurd box (the old one is gone along with the laptop that
hosted it — that was a work laptop, and I had to give it back when
leaving).

A restart is always a check! In my case it was a filesystem crash.

Riccardo
