sunos 5.8 linker choice

hi!

we are about to compile GNU serveez on Sun OS 5.8, 32 Bit, sun4u and
we fail to link the application because:
 - we need -liberty
 - libtool uses native ld (/usr/ccs/bin/ld)
 - although we compiled with gcc (/usr/local)
 - it therefore cannot find libiberty

... temporary fix was to replace the definition of LD in generated
libtool... gcc -shared does well ...

this is with libtool 1.4, current CVS serveez.
