Market
leadership for diamond coated routers expected by the end of 2005
|
|
Weingarten, Germany: Until
the end of this year the up to now only producer of diamond coated PCB
tools – GCT – from Weingarten expects to expand immensely its market
position in Europe and Asia. “Already
in the next months we will - according to our estimations - deliver
10% of the routing volume in Europe”, states
Manfred Kling from GCT.
At the same time
the market volume changes dramatically due to the PCB routers as the
tool life increases by a factor of 5-10 compared to current standard
tools. Expressed in routing meters the market volume of GCT will increase
highly disproportionate.

Aspocomp uses diamond coated routers in mass production
|
|
With Aspocomp meanwhile another huge PCB producer uses diamond
coated routers in mass production.
The Finnish producer’s decision for the innovative tools from
GCT is based on a basic test series which confirms quality, performance
and the high cost savings.

|
|
Material: FR 4
Router type 1 100 (GCT
GmbH), diameter 2,00 mm
Coating: CCDia®MicroSpeed
(CemeCon AG)
Parameter: V =
220 m/min; s = 35.000 1/min; Vorschub Fxy = 1,3
m/min
Result: Tool life increase by factor 5 to 8.
Material: FR 4 with high Tg
(170-180°C)
Router type 1 100 (GCT
GmbH) diameter 2,00 mm
Coating: CCDia®MicroSpeed
(CemeCon AG)
Parameter: V = 180 m/min; s = 29.000 1/min; feed
rate Fxy = 1,0 m/min
Result: Tool life increase by factor 6 to 10.

CCDia®MicroSpeed
|
|
Through CCDia®Microspeed,
CemeCon has developed a diamond coating which utilises the elementary properties
of this material. Diamond is the hardest material of the world, is extremely
smooth and exhibits an extremely low tendency of sticking with respect to
hydrocarbons. These advantages have an immediate effect on the production
process: The significantly extended tool life by a factor of at least six
results in cost savings of approximately 40%. (more…)

Who is CemeCon?
|
|
Since 1986 the coating expert CemeCon, Würselen, Germany is
considered as one of the first-rate vendors when it comes to high-quality
coatings for high-performance tools and components. At Würselen,
Germany CemeCon is operating the world-wide largest coating centre and is the
world market leader in the area of wear protection coatings of diamond tools.
With growth rates of over 50 % per year since the beginning of the Nineties,
these are gaining prominence in industrial cutting operations, in particular
in connection with compound materials, graphite and AlSi
alloys. In these areas, these tools are very much superior to uncoated tools.
