Could it be possible that, on your system,
  /usr/local/share/automake-1.10/Automake/Channels.pm

is from Automake 1.10.1, but
  /usr/local/bin/automake

is from Automake 1.10?  If so, how did you manage to get it that way?
It would explain this failure.
