Forgot to say that I did the checks outside any Gentoo Prefix, using
some host provided gcc and vanilla libtool-1.5.26 to avoid any Gentoo
Prefix specific wrapper breaking something - except the
i686-pc-linux-gnu, this was a Gentoo Linux.
