Hello!

I don't want to set the LD variable for all the architectures (need at least Linux (Debian, Fedora, RedHat) 32 and 64 bit and also Solaris Sparc 32 and 64 bit). Therefore I'm using a link from /usr/bin/file to the real 'file' - as Bob suggested.

I disagree - objdump also knows :-)

$ objdump -a /bin/ls

/bin/ls:     file format elf32-i386

But ok - I understand ...


So - I'm fine with the workaround.
