Huh?  This patch doesn't change anything wrt. this problem, except that
it should cause "make dist" to complain loudly if the problem shows up.
That means, merely recreating configure (resp. rerunning bootstrap) has
fixed the problem.

Can you be more specific, please?  What does not work, what did you try,
which commands issue, and what was the error output?  Thanks.

Yes, it is unfortunately very slow and also requires user interaction.
