Hi Ralf, Karl, looking more closely at some mail from April, I see: /bin/sh ../libtool --tag=CC --mode=link gcc ... ../libtool: syntax error at line 653: `func_arith_result=$' unexpected It seems that libtool.m4 doesn't cause libtool to use a "good shell" unless that good shell is inherited from configure via CONFIG_SHELL.
