Portland Fortran compiler changing executable name

Greetings!

One of my PGI contacts (Brent Leback, CC'ed) tells me that the PGI compiler suite is transitioning the executable name of their Fortran compilers. Currently, they are "pgf77", "pgf90", and "pgf95". They are in the process of moving to the new name, "pgfortran", which contains Fortran 2003 elements and other fun toys (...insert mandatory marketing here... ;-) ).

Could Libtool be adjusted now to look for the "pgfortran" name first for all Fortran variants, and if not found, fall back to the old names? That would seem to give flexibility for the future.
