The problem quoted below, which was reported earlier in the month, is not a SuSE problem- it is actually an incompatibility with bison 1.35. I was unable to compile lilypond on my Redhat 7.3 system and searched the archives to see if my problem had come up before, found this, which matches my compilation error exactly, decided to downgrade my bison to the version which had been used in RH 7.2, and was then able to compile.

Hello,
apologies if this is a well known problem, I couldn't find anything
about it in the archive...

Compiling lilypond-1.4.13 under Suse Linux 7.1 crashed out at the
point
bison -d parser.yy
parser.yy contains make[1]: *** [out/parser.hh] Segmentation fault
make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/tsd/lilysrc/lilypond-1.4.13/lily'
make: *** [all] Error 2

Running bison on its own just gave
bison -d lily/parser.yy
lily/parser.yy contains Segmentation fault

I am using bison version 1.35, as recommended.

Please take this issue up with Suse.
