Please, use the list.  I'm on the list too!  (I wanted to tell you:
this bug has been reported a few days ago, and it's fixed for 1.6.1.
BUT, alas, this was during a private email conversation, and the
problem and answer didn't make it to the list).  So, my bad, and
thanks for the report.

You have leftovers of lilypond on your system, that trigger a bug.

>From the logs you can see, that scm init files are read from the build
dir:

>  [/usr/src/lilypond/lilypond-1.6.0/share/lilypond/scm/output-lib.scm]

but some old .ly init files are read:

>  Parsing...[/usr/share/lilypond/ly/init.ly
> In unknown file:
>    ?: 0* generic-staff-properties

Remove /usr/share/lilypond and try again.
