Hello,

The Notation Manual page on Accidentals
(
http://lilypond.org/doc/v2.2/Documentation/user/out-www/lilypond/Accidentals.html#Accidentals)
reads:
---SNIP---
        piano
This rule reflects 20th century practice for piano notation.
Very
similar to modern but accidentals also get canceled across the staves in
the same GrandStaff or PianoStaff.
---SNIP---

This is IMO a bug in the doco. This should only work for PianoStaff.

Why should it not work in a GrandStaff?
It seems to be useful in contexts other than piano music.
Also, the way I get it from the documentation, piano music can be written in a GrandStaff if you don't need cross-staff beaming, and that way you get automatic
spacing between the staffs.
