Basic Lilypond Question

To whom it may concern:

Hi i am a new user to lilypad. I am running windows xp
and am wondering how to produce .pdf files fom .ly
files. I attempted to create the test tile. I saved
the file as .ly and double clicked. It says "This file
does not have a program assosiated with it for
performing this action. Create an assosiation in the
Folder Options control panel." Could you offer me help
please?
