It seems that the properties are reset at the end of each
(de)crescendo, so it seems you have to specify it again
every time. However, you can save same key strokes by using the
predefined macro \cresc. For example
\cresc c d e f \!
is equivalent to
c \setTextCresc \< d e f \!

Question to the bug-lilypond mailing list:
- Why is it done this way (I see there's a comment in
ly/spanners-init.ly related to the same question)
- Why isn't this documented, if this is the way it should be?

Hi,

I am using Lilypond 2.4.2. When I say
  \setTextCresc
I get a "cresc. - - -" crescendo - but only once. Then it reverts to a hairpin.

What is the "correct" way to set a score-wide default to get text rather than hairpins? (Or do I just have to say \setTextCresc before every \< ?)

Thanks,
Ian
