The date of your email was set to March 8, but it hasn't appeared on the
list until today, one week later. Maybe it is the clock on your machine
that is wrong or the mailing list server that has got problems?

Anyway, you don't provide any information on what version of LilyPond
you use, how you installed it (from a precompiled package or from
source code) and what operating system you use, so it's hard to give
any specific advice.

However, at least if you use LilyPond version 2.0 or newer, than the
command lilypond should certainly do all the steps you describe
automatically. If you add the flag --verbose to the lilypond command,
it will print out much more information on what's actually going on,
which might help you figure out what is the problem.
