use of ~ in lyrics and glyphs

Hi folks !

Willing to use this new feature I installed 2.9.24 on my poor old 
Mandriva 10.2.

The problem is that compiling the example bumps on this glyph 
(U+1000203F) which seems, quite logically, not to exist. But in return I 
get a white space.

What's wrong ??
