Alright, here we go:

Menus are broken in Lilypond: the only menu that appears is the application 
menu (in this case, it says 
"Lilypond" in bold). The Lilypond menu does not work beyond being able to be 
clicked. The keyboard 
shortcuts for everything (quit, typeset, etc) do not function- this is because 
interface shortcuts in Mac OS X's 
interface element hierarchy are rooted in the interface elements themselves. 
From my experience in 
troubleshooting Macs, there may be some kind of invalid file or part of a file 
dealing with the interface, a 
framework used by Lilypond is not compatible with Leopard, or something 
similar. This goes for PPC Macs, 
too (and I use one).
