You might be interested in having a look at the LilyPad source archive
at http://download.linuxaudio.org/lilypond/gub-sources/
I have added this as http://code.google.com/p/lilypond/issues/detail?id=698
with a personal bounty, since I think this is an important issue.
(I plan to work on that as soon as I don't have an opera to finish; I
have already begun to work on it last year when I built EasyLilyPond
from the existing Windows installer.)
