What you see in this example is the first beamlet being shortened, not the
second
beamlet being lengthened. It's hard-coded in Beam::get_beam_segments that a
beamlet
should never extend more that two fifths of the way towards the next (or
previous)
note. Maybe two fifths is not the right number, but this general behaviour
seems
pretty reasonable to me. Otherwise, you might end up with something like
the attached.
