Hehe, well, that's a feature of MusicXML: It tries to read files even if they
are not MusicXML files ;-) The XML files provided by CMME are NOT MusicXML
files,
but Plainchant XML files for gregorian chant. So, of course musicxml2ly is
unable to handle them.
However, it would still be nice if musicxml2ly could do a check whether the
input file is really a musicxml file... Will put it on my TODO list.
