Actually, if you are looking at the _German_ documentation, chances are
that the relation between the manual text (which has not been revised
for a long time) and the examples themselves (which have been upgraded
by automatic conversions) is less than helpful for recognizing that the
code is valid.  It likely does not match the description.

There is currently no-one working on the German translation.  Getting it
brought up to scratch would be rather welcome.  In the meantime, you are
likely better off with the English manual, at least when considering the
current versions of LilyPond and/or its documentation.
