I just looked at the Frescobaldi one and have a few ideas for making it 
even better:

One could use a part of the space of the Music View to show one more 
tool in a floating panel, e.g. the Quick Insert.
It would be nice to see some point-and-click, e.g. selecting a range in 
the editor and see the highlighted items in the Music view.
If that is possible (and doesn't interfere with the previous): have 
something displayed through the magnifier.
