Hello James,

so many thanks for all the managing work you are doing here! It’s priceless in keeping our project going, I think.

to do with regard to new bugs that need 'tracking',
How about managing this through the bug-list itself? The bug-squad would then answer to bug reports and: – when accepting them, edit the subject line into something like "Issue 4570: <Wrong output>" so we can keep track of the numbering correctly – insert the normal metadata (label, status etc.) in separate lines at the beginning of the reply body text (and repeat or keep at the top within every reply to the thread) At least within my setup (Mozilla Thunderbird) this would be quite manageable. When the new tracker will be setup, we’ll have to feed in the data from the mailing list – that’s suboptimal, but feasible as long as the transitioning doesn’t take overly long. Another drawback is that there will be no formal restrictions for anybody to mess with the data. Hopefully, that would be controlled by the public visibility of postings.

What do you think, fellow Bug Squad members?

Yours, Simon
