Thanks for your comments on this issue. 

Concerning the barlines, I think it is really a mistake in this function. I
think the purpose of this tool is to add smaller staves above normal sized
one, but the barlines should be at the same size. So everything shouldn't be
scaled. That's why I had to change manually the Staff.StaffSymbol.thickness
/ Staff.BarLine.hair-thickness and Staff.BarLine.kern to make them look
normal.

I also think this tool has been written for chamber music with piano. That's
why the smaller staves should be above. But it could be different, for
instance, I have to write a piano piece with a "tracker" part (it is an
electronic tape). In this case, it's better to have the tracker part bellow
as it is used only as a guide.
