 Yes!

Either changing the setting to 1200 in .fconfig/fontconfig/fonts.conf or 
deleting the line
 <double>96</double>
 solved the problem.


May it have unwanted consequences in other programs? Would you delete the line 
or change to 1200?

Hi,
Check fontconfig DPI setting. The desktop environment LXQT sets this to 96 dpi 
and it should be 1200 for 
Lilypond.https://gitlab.com/lilypond/lilypond/-/issues/5136
