You didn't name the package that you're trying to build, but given the
output you've provided I know that it's not GNU make that's being
configured.  Plus, there is no GNU make version 4.0.

This mailing is is for reporting problems with GNU make itself... we
can't help with problems you encounter building other software, just
because the problem occurs in their makefile.


Please forward this information to the help/bug mailing list or forums
or whatever that are related to the software you're attempting to build.
