| Trying out the latest patchlevel I noticed that a strange manpage
| symlink is installed:
|
| ,----
|| $ ./configure --prefix=/tmp/ncurses && make install
|| [...]
|| installing /tmp/ncurses/share/man/man1/infocmp.1.gz
|| installing /tmp/ncurses/share/man/man1/infotocap.1.gz
|| .. installing alias description.1.gz
now that you mention it, I saw it in a log, but in a later build (iirc) it went
away
|| [...]
|| $ ls -l /tmp/ncurses/share/man/man1/{description,infotocap}.1.gz
|| lrwxrwxrwx 1 sven sven 14 10. Dez 13:02
|| /tmp/ncurses/share/man/man1/description.1.gz -> infotocap.1.gz
|| -rw-r--r-- 1 sven sven 1705 10. Dez 13:02
|| /tmp/ncurses/share/man/man1/infotocap.1.gz
| `----
|
| This must have been introduced recently, after the 20231121 patchlevel.
| How come?
it's unintentional: my sed script relies upon having only one line after "\-"
in the NAME section.
The text in that file looks like this:
.ds d /usr/local/ncurses/share/terminfo
.SH NAME
\fB\%infotocap\fP \-
convert a \fI\%terminfo\fR description into a \fI\%termcap\fR
description
.SH SYNOPSIS
(I'll update my check-manpage script to catch these)
