Ah, to make it possible to indent the entries with SPC -- that makes
sense.

I'm sure you already know this ... but In the ISO-8859-1 standard
these code points are defined as /grave accent/ and /apostrophe/.

Old X fonts that display glyphs similar to /left single quotation mark/ 
(U+2018) and /right single quotation mark/ (U+2019) are broken ... at
least if they're advertised as latin-1 fonts :-)
